Pinky ft. Messy Marv
Pinky & Messy Marv
Adult supermodel/actress, Pinky, drops a new rap single called, ‘Pussy That Good’. The track features Bay Area phenom, Messy Marv. Unlike other porn star actresses turned rapper, not saying names, Heather Hunter, this single was actually decent. Personally I’m not feeling the track due to it’s female oriented subject matter but, I have a feeling I won’t be able to escape the engaging essence of the total production. I’m expecting Pussy That Good will make a good summer anthem for females in 2012.
Is Lil Whyte Still Doubted?
Independence is the name of the game for veteran rapper Lil Wyte. After more than a decade in the spotlight, the Memphis songwriter has amassed legions of fans worldwide, and consistently attracts new listeners from his catalog of intense solo and collaborative albums.
On June 19, 2012, Lil Wyte will release his fifth solo album Still Doubted via his own Wyte Music Records, in conjunction with Three 6 Mafia’s Hypnotize Minds and Memphis-based indie powerhouse Select-O-Hits.
The 17-track project and two bonus songs will feature appearances from some of Wyte’s most intriguing Hip Hop peers, such as Pastor Troy, Project Pat, $hamrock, Bubba Sparxxx, Frayser Boy and Young Buck. Producers on Still Doubted include Lex Luger and Wyte Music’s in-house beat specialist Big BOI Beats.
In a landmark decision for their Hypnotize Minds label, Three 6 Mafia gave Wyte the green light to set out on his own for Still Doubted. Although Wyte has released other projects on Wyte Music, this is the first official release of his own work on the imprint.
Lil Wyte notes that his lead single “Sike” is a personal favorite from Still Doubted, while “I Do This” brings more a personal tone to the project.
“The song “I Do This‘ is about me being able to do my thing in the studio, on stage and in life, no matter what state of mind I’m in,” Wyte explains. “No matter what, I will get the job done! ‘Sike‘ is the nationwide debut for Miscellaneous, who is a new artist on Wyte Music. It’s a fun track, something I usually don’t do in music. Both of the songs were produced by my in house producer Big BOI Beats.”
Wyte asserts that he had complete creative control over this project, and fans can expect a “new, but old school” version of his polarizing style. Lil Wyte feels that support from his label family has elevated his career with each album, and Hypnotize Minds has inspired him every step of the way.
“DJ Paul and Juicy J have always wanted me to build a brand, and not be just another artist on the label,” says Wyte. “I started Wyte Music with Thug Therapy, and was able to sign such acts as $hamrock and Miscellaneous.”
Once Still Doubted debuts, Lil Wyte has a number of projects to follow up with in 2012. He is aware that the pressure is on now more than ever to prove that Wyte Music is here to stay.
“We have an album for Miscellaneous in the works, and a second $hamrock album,” Wyte says. “We are dropping albums on Lord Infamous and Thug Therapy. We’ll also have a free mixtape by me and Miscellaneous entitled Elvis Meets BB King. I have grown a lot since Doubt Me Now, and it’s time for me to show!”

Interview with Sister Fa. -Noelle Correia
”Yo, hip hop…started out in the heart…uh huh…yo…not everybody tryin’ to chart.”
- Lauren Hill.
Hip Hop has an open definition. Define it as you will, but the truth of Hip Hop’s origination is in the thump-thump of the human pulmonary circuit..a.k.a the heart’s rhythm. Hip Hop’s message began as an emotional, creative response to reality. Hip Hop contains intricate multiplicity in its essence by shaping words into flow, anger into battles of wit, language into innovative dialects, turning city walls into an open canvas and body movements into head-spins that defy skeletal and pelvic limitations. It’s culture is contemporary and futuristic but simultaneously ancient. Hip Hop’s energy is of course of the now and beyond but it connects to a deeper root that is timeless in execution. I’m talking about Hip Hops ability to communicate a story that is larger than the individual. This is an art form that recognizes injustice and brings it to the ears of society. A story that begins as a seed, plants itself into an artist’s mouth giving them the invincible flow of truthful speaking. Think of an Hip-Hop artist with activism on their agenda…think KRS-One. His message and passion is undeniable, an egoless non-biter. The rhyme is a story much larger than the individual.
This creative, spontaneous, warrior”esque” quality of hip hop appeals to folks on a global scale. Marginal voices find amplification in Hip Hop culture. Women have had a long struggle of finding a strong foothold in the Hip Hop world. Especially women who are upfront about gender specific struggles. Women composing rhymes that talk about taboo feminist issues aren’t easily absorbed by the industry. This occurs for many reasons, but mainly because what is being said is unexpected and unfamiliar in a male dominant terrain. The unfamiliar can quickly produce uncomfortable response.
Enter Sister Fa from Senegal, an unfamiliar voice with an uncomfortable subject. Sister Fa is one of the most widely recognized female rap artists in Senegal and an emerging artist in Europe. She has devoted her life’s work to educating her people about the tragic consequences of female genital mutilation, a practice that has been outlawed in Senegal, but which in fact, continues across Africa. The practice is controversial and is a violation of basic human rights. Sister Fa uses her music encourages women to educate themselves and to create a movement for social change. Like KRS-One her passion for activism and music is incredible. Her performance and connection with her audience is empowering. She risks her individual existence for the good of a larger whole. I interviewed her via Skype around 11pm her time (Berlin). For most readers that’s just the beginning of your adventure but for us mamas, that’s late. She was exhausted but pumped out the interview full force.
What she had to say made me threw me into a fit of insomnia.
Let’s talk Hip-Hop.
Me- KRS one says Hip-Hop was the first instrument. What do you think about this statement coming from a culture that prioritizes music?
SF- Music is everything in our culture which is the southern region of Senegal, Casamance. In the Jola/Diola ethnic group we play music to show happiness, sadness, while working and we are always singing.
Me- Emombii. What was the first instrument that you learned how to play?
SF- It is a sacred instrument. It is an instrument used for initiation rituals played by men. I wasn’t allowed to play it but I had a fascination with this instrument so I would hide and play it. When I go back to Senegal I am going to bring on to Germany and play it here.
Me- I’ve heard people refer to Hip Hop in Senegal as a modern day Griot movement. Can you explain your thoughts on this?
SF-The Griot movement is one about oral transmission of tradition that comes from the past, yes. This form of oral tradition was used to announce the words of the people of higher class, royalty. Griots told oral translation of what the kings were up to. They would follow soldiers at war and announce what had happened in song. It belongs to the past. More and more people are using it as a means of survival. As it was a form of flattery for the people of high class societies it is not like Hip-Hop. Hip Hop is critical. It is critical of societal injustice.
Me-What obstacles does a woman in Senegal face as a Hip-Hop artist?
SF-as performer it was very hard for me to go out. I was expected to follow a 12 o’clock curfew. My family could not understand me, they wanted me stay at home….cook and get married. The problems do not just come from the home but within the Hip-Hop industry itself. Within the rap community there is no respect for women artists. Producers do not want to invest in you because they do not feel certain that they will make their money back. Again, it is viewed as outside of a woman’s place…most fellow rappers don’t understand why you don’t just go back home and wait for a man to marry you.
Me- So what do you speak about in your songs?
SF- On my first album I talked about problems linked to Society. Such as marriage by force, marriage of girls who are too young, still children, losing my mother. I also talk about what happens to our soldiers once they are done fighting. In Senegal they are used to fight and then they are just abandoned to society without work, just left hanging around the streets.
Me- Not only are you an amazing artist but you are also an activist. Can you talk about the issue you are dealing with as an activist?
SF- Yes, I am dealing with the issue of female genital cutting, which is the removal of the clitoris by knife. It is a practice that is prohibited in Senegal but is a ritual done despite being illegal in many rural areas. Well actually it is practiced throughout Senegal as many people move from rural areas to the larger urban areas such as Dakar to find work.
Me-Many people here in the U.S. are unaware of this practice. Can you explain what this process is and its physical and psychological consequences that women and girls suffer from after being cut?
SF- In the moment that it happens there is the confusion of not knowing why you are being hurt so brutally. If you can imagine the pain of having your finger cut off with a kitchen knife without anesthesia, this pain times ten describes the pain girls endure when cut, as it is truly the most sensitive area of a woman’s body. Many women suffer from infection post-circumcision. The bleeding is immense, endless. After being cut, the girls are sew shut to ensure their virginity before marriage. Which results in long term pain. This means that when women are married they have to survive sex as it can be a fatal act when the husband breaks through their stitches. Child birth becomes another episode of fatality. After being sewn the body reacts by producing thick scar tissue near the vaginal opening. During childbirth, when a baby passes through the flexible muscles of the uterus and the vaginal wall and is abruptly confronted with rigid, thick scar tissue the natural flow of childbirth comes to a halt. Not only is this fatal for the baby, but the mother can die as well. If the woman survives birth, more problems occur. Such as the issue of having the muscles that control urination destroyed. Which means that post-birth women suffer from incontinence, constantly wetting themselves. Women who suffer from this are outcast by their families and live in solitude.
Me- About how many women in Senegal suffer from FGM currently?
SF- It is said that 27% of the population is cut, however this is off. It is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak, this is a statistic that focuses on the Wolof population of Senegal (87 %) , that does not include other ethnic groups that make up the rest of Senegal.
Me- Are other artists in Senegal dealing with this issue? Do you feel that you are alone in this struggle?
SF- Yes I am alone. Many will perform with me on stage but will not address the problem of FGM. I just returned from a trip in Senegal where I organized a seminar with other artists to discuss how we can use our Art to advocate Human rights. It was a process to bring their own dialog to speak about this practice.
Me- What are you working on currently?
SF- In April I have an African tour planned. The idea is to go to communities where FGM is practiced such as Mali, Burkina Faso, Gambia, and Guinea and offer training seminars for community members to bring sensitization to their people regarding FGM. The concept title behind this tour is “peace and security” as these are human rights issues that most humans desire and are entitled to. I am also working on a second CD. The sales of this CD will fund my tour.
Me-Thanks so much for talking with me today…
SF-Wait, I have one last thing to say. Many western organizations condemn the practice of FGM, in a condescending manner. They feel that most African women are stubborn and want to keep their practices just as they are without change. There approach is that of demanding African woman to meet the norms of western society. This approach fails. African women are open to change but it must come from within, the key is how we communicate change and approach conversations around these practices in a compassionate manner.
Thank you Sister Fa for all that you do.

All-Original Hip Hop Album Released by KD Tha Restless Hustla
KD Tha Restless Hustla is a Pasadena-born, Lancaster, California native rap and hip-hop aficionado ever since he can remember.
It all started with girls. When KD was in fifth grade he used to write poetry to the girls he liked. Knowing his affinity for words and rhymes, KD realized that he can rap what he jotted down as well. From there, KD knew - he was going to be a rapper extraordinaire.
But wait, why is he called KD Tha Restless Hustla, anyway? KD stands for KatDadie, a moniker a close friend gave him that was then shortened to the two-letter name he uses now. His mother always called him a ‘restless soul’, and the Hustla? ‘I write what I like to call Hustle Music. It’s motivational,’ KD shares. Hence, KD Tha Restless Hustla became his rap alter-ego.
With a penchant for making music that engages its listeners to make a move, to forge on, it’s no wonder that KD is gaining the attention he truly deserves. Thanks to music influences Ice Cube, 2Pac, Wu-Tang Clan, Mac Dre, Redman, Spice 1, and E-40, KD has concocted his own special brew of rap that befits him and his desire to make a name for himself.
KD’s says, ‘No matter what it is you are trying to accomplish you can do it with lots of determination and positive thinking. Positive thinking equals positive results. Success does not wait on anybody - get your hustle on, and stay away from people you know who do not have your best interests at heart.’ Spot on, KD.
Currently, KD is busy taking his own label to the next level, sprucing up his studio with high-grade audio equipment, and putting himself and his music out there for the public to further get to know him. KD does live shows, gigs, and events, performing, collaborating with other artists, and networking - putting in the hard work for the sake of his music career.
Hustle with KD Tha Restless Hustla by downloading his latest EP of all-original tracks written and performed by him at iTunes, distributed by JMD Records and INgrooves, a partner of Universal Music Group.

Lupe Fiasco was detained briefly at Los Angeles International Airport yesterday over a piece of technical equipment that he wasn’t allowed to bring on the plane. He made it to his show in Rhode Island, but he believes he was the victim of an overzealous TSA agent. After his release, he Tweeted, “Wow, fresh outta handcuff at LAX.”
But later on, Lupe seemed to have calmed down, Tweeting, “Shout to all the good airport cops and TSA folks — don’t let the bad apples spoil the bunch!” –Christina Isaacs
Hip Hop Dance Curriculum Is Now Mac Friendly
The #1 selling hip hop dance curriculum in the world is now easier to access thanks to Apple’s Mac App Store. Creator Kevin Andrews just launched the curriculum for Mac computers which makes it more accessible to users around the world.
“Hip Hop Instruction: The Original Hip Hop Curriculum”, the top selling hip hop dance curriculum in the world, just got a little bigger. Last year, due to its success, Kevin Andrews Industries LLC introduced the curriculum for the iPad. Now, Kevin Andrews Industries has taken it one step further and brought the famous curriculum to the Mac App Store!
Kevin Andrews, creator of the Hip Hop Instruction curriculum , says that he couldn’t have done it without his customers’ help. “We’ve had a lot of success and a lot of great feedback from our customers. A few people emailed me about bringing this to Mac and we’ve finally been able to accomplish that.”
Bringing the hip hop dance curriculum to a digital format means no printing costs which allows Andrews’ to offer the digital version at a discounted rate. “I believe that more people will have access to learning hip hop dance because we have discounted the price so much from the printed version.”
Started in 2009, “Hip Hop Instruction: The Original Hip Hop Curriculum” was Andrews’ first major entrepreneurial project. “I started it in my basement and it just kind of grew from there.” Andrews says it took several months to complete the program and claims it offered something at the time that no one previously had. In contrast to traditional dance instruction videos, we actually broke down the dance steps so people could create their own dances, opening up endless possibilities.”
When asked if Andrews has any other projects in the works, he said, “Of course, when I take one poker out of the fire, there are two more that replace it.” Andrews has over 15 dance related apps in the iTunes and Android Markets and plans on continuing his venture to teach the world how to dance. Andrews added, “It’s really cool to think that there are thousands of people all around the world who have learned a dance step from something I’ve done or created.” To date, more than 50,000 people have downloaded one of Andrews’ apps.
Andrews’ has danced for such artists as LeAnn Rimes, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Alan Jackson, and Big & Rich. He also recently choreographed a music video along side famed director Trey Fanjoy. Last year, Andrews’ taught at the University of Wisconsin (Madison).
As this new Mac app is launched, it will most certainly bring dance to more people, continuing Andrews’ one-time basement project of “Hip Hop Instruction.”
